Installation
There are two tested, working methods to get AMIX installed. Which you choose depends on the resources which you have at your disposal. Before starting, read the following information on partition and drive sizes, as this is the most problematic part of the installation:Partitioning and drive size caveats
1) Installation archives dd'd to extra drive. I like this method because you can do this from an existing AmigaOS installation without access to any other OS, provided you can get the files onto the Amiga in the first place. You need a spare HD for this method, currently, but you DO NOT need a tape drive. Most people want this install method.
2) Installation using install tape. Easiest, if it can be made to work — the default installation only supports this method. This assumes you have a tape with AMIX on it...if you don't have one and think you would like to try and make one, you want to go here first!
If you have installed Amiga UNIX v2.1, you can apply the Patch Disk if and only if you have installed from tape, and maybe if you used the experimental "fixed" 2.1 cpio file for the HD hack install method. If you break your system don't blame me.
